Online therapy across Florida

Online therapy in Florida for people tired of having the same fight with themselves or someone they love.

Maybe the argument lasts 20 minutes, but it ruins the whole night. Maybe you replay one conversation for three days. Therapy helps you slow the pattern down, see what it protects, and practice a response you can actually use when things get hard.

This may be for you if

You are tired of looking fine while the same private pattern keeps taking over.

Some people come to therapy in crisis. Plenty come in because life technically works, but they are tired. Tired of saying yes too fast. Tired of avoiding the conversation. Tired of shutting down, overthinking, or losing themselves to keep the peace.

Who I help

For people who want therapy to change something outside the room.

Being heard matters. So does leaving with a clearer way to handle the moment that usually pulls you back into the old pattern.

Individuals

For adults dealing with anxiety, depression, stress, self-doubt, family patterns, trauma, identity questions, and the relationship habits they keep repeating.

Couples therapy

When love is still there, but the pattern keeps winning anyway.

Maybe one of you asks more questions while the other gets quiet. Maybe a ten-minute topic becomes a two-day freeze. Maybe you are trying to recover from betrayal, parenting stress, or years of slowly becoming polite instead of close.

Couples therapy gives you a place to slow the cycle down before both of you go into your roles. The goal is not to crown a winner. It is to understand what keeps happening and practice repair while the relationship still has room to breathe.

Common patterns we work on

  • Same argument, different day
  • Pursuer and withdrawer dynamics
  • Resentment and emotional distance
  • Loss of intimacy or friendship
  • Trust repair after infidelity
  • Parenting and life transition conflict

The process

See the pattern. Tell the truth. Try a different move.

Therapy with me is warm, but it is not passive. We name what keeps happening, look at what it has been protecting, and practice what to do the next time the old response shows up.

01

Identify the Pattern

We name what keeps repeating, whether it shows up as overthinking, shutdown, people pleasing, anger, conflict, or avoidance.

02

Understand the Cycle

We explore what the pattern protects, where it comes from, how it affects your relationships, and why it has been hard to change.

03

Practice New Responses

You learn to communicate more clearly, regulate your emotions, set boundaries, repair conflict, and make choices that align with who you want to become.

Robert Sawyer, LMHC

About Robert

Experienced therapy that feels human, direct, and useful in real life.

I am Robert Sawyer, LMHC, a Licensed Mental Health Counselor with 18 years of experience helping individuals, couples, and families understand themselves, improve communication, and change the patterns that keep them stuck.

My style is warm, direct, collaborative, and insight oriented. Clients often describe the work as honest and grounding. You will have room to feel what you feel, but we will also pay attention to what needs to change when you leave the session.

I draw from CBT, solution focused therapy, family systems, attachment informed work, IFS informed work, Gottman informed couples work, emotionally focused principles, and trauma informed care. The point is not to bury you in therapy language. The point is to help you understand yourself and your relationships well enough to do something different on a hard Tuesday night.

Questions clients ask

Before you book.

Do you offer online therapy?

Yes. Sawyer Counseling offers online therapy across Florida.

Can I use my insurance if you're not in-network?

Out-of-Network Insurance Reimbursement

Don't see your insurance listed? You may still be able to use your insurance benefits.

Many clients are surprised to learn that their insurance may reimburse a portion of their therapy costs, even when I'm not in their network.

If your plan includes out-of-network mental health benefits, you may be eligible to receive reimbursement for part of your session fees. After each session, I can provide a superbill, which is an itemized receipt you can submit to your insurance company for reimbursement.

Many PPO plans offer out-of-network coverage, making therapy more affordable than clients initially expect.

Before we meet, consider asking your insurance company:

  • Do I have out-of-network mental health benefits?
  • What is my deductible, and how much of it have I met?
  • What percentage of therapy costs is reimbursed after my deductible is met?

If you have questions about your benefits or the reimbursement process, I'm happy to help.

What if I can't afford therapy right now?

Sliding Scale- I offer a limited number of reduced fee spots for clients facing financial hardship. If cost is a concern, I encourage you to mention it. I would rather have that conversation than have you walk away without support.

What if my partner is unsure about therapy?

That is common. A consultation can help clarify whether couples therapy is the right next step and what both partners would need to participate honestly.

Is therapy only for crisis?

No. Therapy can help when you are overwhelmed, but it can also help when you are functioning and still feel stuck, disconnected, or unclear about how to move forward.

Who is this not a fit for?

This is not crisis care. Couples therapy is also not appropriate for active domestic violence, high conflict custody disputes, or situations where one partner is attending only to punish or control the other.
